Piano Teacher Guiding Student at a Piano Lesson

Just like the rest of the Encore beginner books, you'll start playing with both hands together from your very first lesson!

Just like the rest of the Encore beginner books, you’ll start playing with both hands together from your very first lesson! This series is designed to be flexible, working perfectly for both private, one-on-one sessions and fun group classes.

The main goal of this two-book set is to quickly build your foundational piano and theory skills. This rapid development means you’ll be ready to move on to the Achiever Piano Series in no time!

We’ve included comprehensive worksheets to make sure you thoroughly understand musical notation, terms, and signs. These worksheets are directly connected to the piano pieces, which means your practical playing skills are always linked to solid musical knowledge.

Finally, the inclusion of a broad range of musical styles ensures you get a rich and diverse learning experience. Plus, our world-class backing tracks provide outstanding models for you to listen to and play along with!

Curriculum

The Accent Piano Series uses the same whole-pattern learning method as our other Encore on Keys courses. This is a smart approach that helps students learn faster and truly develop their musical intelligence!

We build technical skills with two fun activities: Finger Zips and Finger Taps.

  • Finger Zips are small, musical patterns that become the building blocks for bigger pieces. They help students develop an “aural library” of sounds and give them a sequenced path to becoming technically proficient.

  • Finger Taps are great for beginners, helping them quickly learn finger sequencing and dexterity without having to read complex music right away. They pave the way for smooth playing as they move into harder pieces.

Like all Encore on Keys courses, the Accent series is built on a strong foundation of rhythm and harmony. We use Rhythm Taps to help students read two-part rhythms and improve their piano coordination. You can play these on percussion instruments or combine them with chords to expand your skills. You’ll find essential keyboard harmony woven throughout this entire two-book series.

The best part? Once you successfully complete the Accent Piano Series, you’ll be ready to advance straight into the Achiever Piano Series!
